Sounds like Stoke-on-Trent

Have you ever found that where you listen to an album for the first time strongly affects your memory of it years later when you listen to it? Like a geographical memory is imprinted onto your brain, to be brought back to your memory again whenever you listen back to the album?

I get this with certain albums, for example, the classic Sultans of Ping F.C. album, ‘Casual Sex in the Cineplex’, ALWAYS reminds me of Stoke-on-Trent. Why? Because my friend sent me a copy on tape and the first time I listened to it was the day me and my friends caught the train to Stoke to go to a Higher Education fair to look at prospective universities and such like.

And ‘Thunder, Lightning, Strike’ by The Go! Team always reminds me of Nottinghamshire because Craig bought a copy of it when we had a long weekend up there.

Sadly there are no albums in my collection that put me in mind of America, Australia, or ANY kind of tropical beach.
