What a week that was

Three reasons why last week was so good:

Reason 1)
The local football team, Chasetown FC, got into the FA Cup.

I’m not really into football, but I’ll always support the underdogs in this world. It was a good match (my first one actually), and a goal in the 90th minute means that Chasetown are now due to play Oldham this coming Sunday…and it will be screened on Match of the Day. Thanks lads for putting Chasetown on the map.

Reason 2)
My cousin Ann got married

Weddings are generally good for getting dressed up and having fun. This one was good because:

a) I had a decent vegan meal at the wedding dinner
b) I found an outfit to wear that actually looked okay on me for once
c) I got to see various relatives, including the ‘Cloggies’ - my Dutch relatives
d) The jazz band that played in the evening had a member that looked like a guy off Channel 4’s ‘Time Team’, which made me and Dad giggle
e) We finished up the night drinking and exhibiting our various vocal talents: chainsaw noises, budgie, kookaburra, and monkey noises, horse noises, you name it.

(PS - the bride was responsible for the cracking monkey impression)

Reason 3)
I got to see my favourite band, The Wrens, play for the first time ever. Twice.

But that story’s a whole other blog entry…
