Living in Norwich now, and working for a radio station just on the outskirts. Any Alan Partridge quips and I’ll drive round to your house and set you on fire. Just think about it…it just ain’t funny. And if you think asking me if I’m working at Radio Norwich IS funny, I can only suggest that you go and buy yourself a joke book…oh, and a new sense of humour while you’re at it.

Amazing accent around here - thrills the little linguistic geek that is me. It’s a weird country bumpkin-cum-Aussie accent. Well, the Australian accent has its origins in the Norfolk accent so there ya go.

A girl I work with said she overheard this conversation on a street recently between two old Norfolk people. They were trying to fold down an umbrella and one of them finally did it with a flourish. The one person was amazed by how the other one had finally done it. Then came this conversation:

Person A: “Do that do that?”
Person B: “That do.”

And that was the whole conversation. Frugal with words or what?!?
