8.40am in Acton

Walked through from Chiswick to Acton this morning up to the Uxbridge Road to catch a bus to work. Four teenagers sauntered past me, leaving a strong smell of weed in their wake.

Call me old fashioned - and growing up as a teenager in the 90s in the countryside, I guess I was - but I can think of better ways to spend your summer holidays?

When it comes to drugs, I’m much on the same wavelength as Bill Hicks - they were left here for a reason, and some, if used responsibly can bring relief to chronic pain sufferers…or, they can be used wisely to access other realms and planes of consciousness.

However, I don’t think these kids were using them to go have a looksie around the Akashic Records or have a meet ‘n’ greet with their spirit guide, or to damp down pain from an autoimmune condition like lupus or fibromyalgia. I think they were using it because they were bored, trying to escape, and trying to be cool. I feel really sorry for today’s kids growing up in cities if they’re trying to escape reality already at such a young age : (
