Aoion Lane
Was walking to the pharmacy this morning to get me some drugs (wooo-hooo) and did a double take when I saw this street sign across the road. For a second, my foggy morning brain thought they’d really renamed the road.
It was only when I took a better look that I saw that some wag had thought it funny to rename ‘Acton Lane’ to ‘Aoion Lane’ with some black tape. I took a picture and showed my friend at work, who speaks Greek, as it looked a bit Greek to me and I wondered if was actually a Greek word.
She said it means ‘century’. So there ya go, someone has renamed Acton Lane to Century Lane. However, I am not entirely sure I trust her, because she only looked quickly and was eating her lunch at the time, which is probably more interesting than deciphering some nonsense on your mate’s mobile phone…
