Vegan chocolate biscuit cake + Carhartt clothing
What’s the pic? It’s a pic of the best thing I ate in London Town this weekend, that is. Behold, the chocolate biscuit cake, courtesy of Hackney vegan co-op food joint, the Pogo Cafe:

And I’d already eaten half of this big ol’ chocolatey, biscuit, gooey, raisiny, culinary momma-beast of a cake. *This* is what I brought home with me because I couldn’t finish it. Well, I had eaten a cheeze burger with wedges, coleslaw, and salad, and downed a coffee soyashake. Mmmmmmmm. Oh man, I could eat it all again now.
Hackney? What was I doing in Hackney, you may ask. Why would a west London livin’ grrrl venture so far Eastside? Well, I wanted to go and check out the Carhartt factory outlet in Hackney, as they sell cheap Carhartt stuff. It’s about a ten minute walk south of Hackney Central station. I like Carhartt clothing, as it’s well made and pretty functional. I ain’t the girliest of girls as you know. Jeans, t-shirt, hoodie, trainers, and I’m happy. I picked up three nice tops: a zip hoodie, a pullover hoodie, and a zip up top (sans hood).
This was after eating that huge amount of food at the Pogo Cafe. The cafe is kinda in the middle of nowhere (about a 10 minute walk north from Hackney Central Station) and if you’re looking for suave, sophisticated surroundings, then don’t go. It’s a co-operative venture, run by volunteers, so the premises are shabby minimalist chic, with the emphasis not so much on the chic, if you get my drift.
But if you want great vegan food, and a chance to try their great soya shakes and that chocolate biscuit cake (they do loads of other great sounding desserts too) then it’s worth the trek when you’ve got time to spare to head eastwards for vegan vittels.
