I also got an instant impression that it was an overstylised, slow-moving bag of sh*te. Don’t get me wrong; the sets are remarkable, the make-up, hair, and styling of the actors and actresses is fabulous and very well done. But…what actually happens? I don’t want big guns and explosions (I’ll watch ‘Crank’ if I want that) - but I’m just left feeling that it’s little more than a set designer and make-up artists showcase for beautiful people who want to look beautiful, period-stylee.

The constant banter and will-they-won’t-they is the kind of verbal tennis I love to indulge in, and am always happy to watch on the small screen. However I am getting a little worried that I get the hots for on-screen smartasses who have a place of residence as their last name - I’ve still got a special place in my heart for Hugh Laurie as the Chiron-esque ‘House’.

The show itself is mostly straightforward, if a little unrealistic. Castle is a famous crime novelist who’s helping out the NYPD when they’re investigating a copycat murder based on one of his books. He receives permission to continue helping da cops solve other murder cases and thus, we have a TV series.

Below are a few short clips which should give you an idea of the spirit of the show - while it’s a crime drama, there’s strong comedic elements, as well as that classic UST (unresolved sexual tension).
